Although I might add a statement bracelet or ring from time to time, I generally wear the same few pieces of jewellery every single day: a necklace with a meaningful pendant, a thin ring and two studs per earlobe. Oh, and my nose ring of course :) In fact, I hardly ever take these off, not even at night. Do you have a jewellery uniform? Tell me in the comments! Above all, I believe in the ‘less is more’ approach when it comes to skin care. Finding the right skin care regime is undoubtedly the most important and at the same time, trickiest part of streamlining your beauty routine, but once you have found it, you will be able to get away with less make up now, and also in the future – a bonus if you prefer the natural, bare-faced look. For me, the ideal skin care routine consists […]
About once a week I get an email by a reader asking me about my nose ring and whether they should get one too, so I thought I’d do a little FAQ and show you some of my favourite inspirations to make your decision a little easier. I’ve had my nose piercing for two years now, and I love it. It’s hard to explain, but I really like the look of girls with little studs or smaller rings, especially if […]
I’m really into grey nail polish at the moment. I bought this dark grey colour as an experiment, and never thought I would like that much, but for the rest of the summer I wanted to find a lighter, creamier grey. I found the perfect shade in Maybelline’s Forever Strong range, called gris nudge, no. 795. I love the formula, it really does last a full 7 days without chipping. A few days ago I got an email from Feli who lives in Berlin and is about to start a new job at a design company. She wanted some advice on how to build a work wear wardrobe from scratch and on a limited budget. I decided to post my reply here on my blog, because I thought some of you guys might be in the same situation. This is what Feli wrote me: Hey Anuschka, I recently graduated from university […]
I learned how to make friendship bracelets this summer and I’ve been wearing this pastel coloured one ever since. But I know that once fall starts I’m not going to want to wear it every single day. The problem with friendship bracelets is that they have to be tied around the wrist, which is cool if they are used to symbolise everlasting friendship. But I think most of us aren’t wearing them for their traditional meaning and would prefer to […]
A few of you have been asking what blogs I read on a daily basis, so I thought I would do a roundup of all my current favourite blogs and also show you some of my favourite posts/links of the past couple of weeks. Here we go: Top 6 personal style blogs: Sabrina from afterDRK Sietske from Connected to Fashion Ivania from Love Aesthetics Annemiek from Mode D’Amour Sandra from 5 inch and up Josephine from Summerlisten Top 3 blogs […]
I finally got some white Supergas! I’m going to wear them all summer long paired with a silver ankle bracelet. They will replace my white basic H&M plimsolls, the difference in quality really is huge. The H&M ones would have never lasted me longer than one summer. Have you seen Superga’s 2012 spring/summer campaign with Alexa Chung? I like the black ones she’s wearing:
As part of my new ‘quality instead of quantity’ philosophy I’m trying to form a very clear idea about my personal style to make sure that when I invest in pieces I won’t be over them in a year or so. You know those “What if you’re house was on fire and you could only save three things?’-questions that make you boil down all your possessions to the few that are really important to you? I thought I’d do a […]
HEAD + HEART + BONES + BREATH = Dream Wardrobe + Dream Living Space Planning a wardrobe is very similar to developing and implementing a concept for your apartment or house. Especially if you are starting from scratch, both can seem very daunting, simply because there are so many different aspects to consider. You need top-level problem solving skills to balance function with aesthetic appeal and express both qualities in all the little components that a good wardrobe or apartment […]
Ok I know I’m super late, but I finally got myself a Pinterest account :) Well, I’ve had one for a while, but I only just realised the amazingness of it all. Until now I have kept all my inspiration pics on iPhoto but it’s gotten too crammed and impossible to find anything. I plan to shift everything from iPhoto to Pinterest, which might take me a while, but I think it will be worth it in the end. I’ve […]
This top used to be a Motel bodycon dress, but it lost shape after a couple of years, and because I love the detailing of the neckline so much, I just had to find a way to wear it, so I cut it. I’ve actually been doing this with a lot of my old bodycon dresses and longer t-shirts that don’t look good on me once they get baggy around the waist.
A couple of weeks ago I decided it’s time to learn how to make friendship bracelets. I kind of missed the boat when they were popular in the nineties; my neighbour was making them constantly and tried to teach me, but my seven-year old self just didn’t get it :). But now, with a bit more DIY experience under my belt, it turns out that the technique really is as easy as everyone says it is and I will definitely […]

For about 10 days it has been super hot in London, way too hot to wear anything but shorts or mini skirts. This is an outfit I wore yesterday, my H&M Fashion against Aids skirt with some white summer basics and one of the delicate thread bracelets I made a while ago. Ooh, and I found a cool street in my neighbourhood with lots of exciting backgrounds for pictures, so expect a few more outfit posts in the future!
I spontaneously decided to turn my dolphin necklace into an ankle bracelet. All I did was shorten the chain of the necklace (which I wore in this post), but there are also some less ‘invasive’ ways to customise your jewellery, so you can wear it around your ankle without ruining it for its original purpose: bracelets: since your wrist is likely to be smaller than your ankle, elongate bracelets by attaching an extension made out of a piece of chain […]
It’s safe to say that summer has finally arrived here in London, in fact today it was almost too hot. But I’m not complaining :) I thought I’d show you what I’m planning on wearing for a big part of next week, after my last exam, if I can find a good outdoor swimming pool by then (message me if you know a nice one :)). I can’t remember when I last wore a actual bikini set (as in top […]
