I think bedrooms, more than any other room in the house, should be free from clutter and have a super calm, puristic and relaxing atmosphere. For my next apartment I want crisp white sheets and a low bed. *image credits: unknown, blood and champagne, the berry, bode and fou, happy inferior blog, unknown, black bird style, urban outfitters, unknown, referans, the coveter, unknown, unknown, apartment therapy, unknown.
Dip dyeing has to be one of my favourite interior design trends right now. Supersize scrabble tiles! I got the idea from this cool shop on Etsy. The concept is simple: just cut out letters from a self-adhesive foil and stick it on some wooden squares. It does take a bit of time and a steady hand to cut out the little numbers and any round letters, but I think the end result is worth it. All you need are some wooden squares and self-adhesive black foil. I used chalk board foil just because it’s […]
For the past year my boyfriend and me have lived in London in a studio flat that was pre-furnished and only really had one desk. I got used to doing practically all my uni work on the couch, but now we’re moving and I’m really excited about finding a flat that is big enough for me to have my own little work space. I like the idea of having a special area that is just for work and my projects, […]
HEAD + HEART + BONES + BREATH = Dream Wardrobe + Dream Living Space Planning a wardrobe is very similar to developing and implementing a concept for your apartment or house. Especially if you are starting from scratch, both can seem very daunting, simply because there are so many different aspects to consider. You need top-level problem solving skills to balance function with aesthetic appeal and express both qualities in all the little components that a good wardrobe or apartment […]
I’m pretty sure that for most people their style influences not just their fashion choices but also what they want their living space to look like. What do you think? My current fashion favourites definitely have the same kind of aesthetic as my idea of a nice apartment. Here is a selection from my current interiors mood board with some favourite tumblr pics:
Hello! I’ve got another DIY tutorial for you, for a little project I did when I was at home for Easter. Well, actually it was a little more time consuming than some of my other DIYs, mainly because I lacked some of the necessary handyman skills:). It’s probably a quick one-hour project for anyone who knows how to mount stuff onto walls and all that. I was going to make this as a coat hanger, but actually you can use […]
A manicure can involve quite a few utensils! Whenever I did my nails all the little bits and pieces would clutter up the couch, the picture above is a much nicer depiction of what it actually looks like. I recently came up with a solution: Instead of just dumping everything into one container and taking out everything I need individually, I store my nail stuff in two separate places now. I have one big MUJI tray for all my coloured […]
Traditionally, spring cleaning was meant to rid a house of its wintery layer and prepare it for spring. I don’t own a house, but I do own a closet, and the principle is the same: you can’t put your new spring clothes into a jam-packed closet full of knits, tights and other cold-weather items, right? Along with a seasonal turnover, now is a good time to do a general big edit and purge your closet of everything that’s only wasting […]
love aesthetics I looove seeing other people’s wardrobes and I love reorganising mine and am always searching for a better system. Maybe because it involves thinking about both fashion and decorating… I’m not sure. I guess the big challenge when it comes to storing pretty much anything, but especially clothes, is fitting everything into a confined space while balancing aesthetics with practicality (meaning you can see everything and take items out easily, etc). I like any kind of open storage; especially […]
Did you know that coconuts make great storage units? They can easily be transformed into any sort of cup/tray/organiser to hold everything from make up or jewellery to paint brushes and candy. I actually got this idea from my boyfriend; I said I didn’t like coconut water and so he got some whole coconuts to prove me wrong. I still don’t like the taste of them but I did get the idea of using the shell for a quick DIY project :). I experimented […]
When I saw this post on the ModCloth blog, I knew I had to make my own snow globes asap :). But since christmas is over I didn’t want to go for the traditional snowy scenery theme, so I just went to a craft store and see what I could come up with with all the little things they had there.
This isn’t really a DIY tutorial, but a fun idea I wanted to share with you. I hope you like it! Drip candles were really popular in the 70s, and I think it’s time they made their comeback! I got the idea for this candle holder from the Almost Famous movie and I love it, I think it almost looks like a piece of art. It’s definitely very decorative. It is not difficult to make, it just takes some time […]
I found a whole bag of these great multicoloured sea shells at a flea market and for about a year I was debating what to do with them, until I had the idea of using the shells like mosaic tiles. In a nutshell what I did was cover the shells in jointing compound and then partially dig them out again. Here is a more detailed tutorial: What you need: a plate or bowl (made of cardboard or wood) lots of […]
