When I saw this post on the ModCloth blog, I knew I had to make my own snow globes asap :). But since christmas is over I didn’t want to go for the traditional snowy scenery theme, so I just went to a craft store and see what I could come up with with all the little things they had there.
Some admin stuff: new domain! into mind can now be found under into-mind.com . The old address will still work, but I like the new one better :) It’s been the 24th of December for about an hour where I am right now, so I thought now is a good time to share with you my own most christmassy photos, for the last few days of christmas spirit. I took them all in the last couple of weeks, and although […]
Here are some more visual goodies from my inspiration folder for you. I collected most of them over the last few months from various tumblrs and blogs. You might think I’m strange but I find them all quite festive in some way, though not in the traditional sense at all :) To me they are all really upbeat and sparkly. I hope you like them! A few of you have requested that I post some more of my own photography, […]
One of the most established findings in social psychological research is that, compared to people with average looks, attractive people are seen as more intelligent, more interesting, more creative, as better leaders, better parents… in short: they are attributed a whole range of socially desirable traits. Psychologists call this the halo effect: the attractiveness of pretty people casts a ‘positive halo’ on their other characteristics. It is easy to think that, because of all this flattering feedback, attractive people must […]
This isn’t really a DIY tutorial, but a fun idea I wanted to share with you. I hope you like it! Drip candles were really popular in the 70s, and I think it’s time they made their comeback! I got the idea for this candle holder from the Almost Famous movie and I love it, I think it almost looks like a piece of art. It’s definitely very decorative. It is not difficult to make, it just takes some time […]
This time of the year you can often find me wearing different shades of black on my nails. I say black, because from far away they all look black, but if you look closer you can see a hint of colour. I always veer towards richer shades like these in Autumn and Winter, I think they complement the feel of heavy cold-weather fabrics nicely, like wool or velvet. Here are some more close-ups of my favourite nearly black colours. Do […]
They look kind of like paintings, but these are the beautiful photographs of Jose A Gallego. He calls them “Portraits of the Heart”, maybe because they convey amazingly well what the animals are feeling. I can practically hear this Orang Utan laughing.
I have always loved slave bracelets and was forever searching for them until I realised that they are actually really, really easy to make yourself. All you need is some chain, a few rings and about 10 minutes of time. This tutorial is for a simple slave bracelet with five middle strands. As soon as you get the hang of the basic design you can add beads or change the structure of the chains and create any kind you want. […]
I thought I’d share with you some of the contents of my inspiration folder. For about two years I have been saving every pic that i liked, so now I have a ton of pictures on my laptop. It is fun to look back and see what kinds of things spoke to me and how these visual triggers changed over time. It is basically like a historical survey of things that reflect parts of me in some way, kind of […]
I found a whole bag of these great multicoloured sea shells at a flea market and for about a year I was debating what to do with them, until I had the idea of using the shells like mosaic tiles. In a nutshell what I did was cover the shells in jointing compound and then partially dig them out again. Here is a more detailed tutorial: What you need: a plate or bowl (made of cardboard or wood) lots of […]
I couldn’t believe it when I found out that these pretty nature scenes are completely made out of food. At first I thought they just take pictures of every item individually and photoshop it together but they actually lay out everything and photograph it as one. I wish there was a video of the process, can you imagine how long that must take? I did however find some behind the scenes pics which I included at the bottom of this […]
